Chetty’s is another quick self service joint in New BEL Road. They have opened a couple of outlets in few other vicinities of Bangalore as well. It’s a heavenly place for South Indian breakfast lovers.
What’s special? They have focused more on serving some dishes which are usual at Arya Vysya homes. They got some good stuff like flattened Rice Doe-sae (Avalakki Dose), Paddu, Garlic Dosa, Ghee Podi Idli, Tomato Chutney Dosa, Ghee Upma and Anjeer Halwa.
Flattened Rice Dosa is usual affair at my home and felt almost the same with respect to texture and taste. It’s soft, bright and fluffy, served with Tomato Onion Chutney and Dal Chutney. The melting butter on Dosa is a visual treat.
Paddu, I would call it Guntapanganalu (The way we pronounce at home) was extraordinary. The reason is that, it’s overloaded with chopped onion. I am pretty confident that, this kind of one you don’t get anywhere in Bangalore. I was totally overwhelmed! However, one of the batches had too oily, which they should keep an eye.
Total disappointment with Garlic Dosa. Well, I was expecting a dry garlic powder spread and ghee. However, they are applying Garlic pickle. The taste has gone for a toss. Tomato Chutney Dose can be avoided as it’s stuffed with Tomato Gojju, which makes the Dosa too tangy and soggy.
Idlis over here are light, soft and spongy. And, addition of ghee and podi took the Dish to next level. So, Ghee Podi Idli is another must try! Upma is made out of ghee, which is feel good factor for all Ghee lovers.
The prices are on expensive side being a self service joint. However, top notch with respect to quality prospective.
