United Spirits (A Diageo Company), in association with Social organized the Holiday Brunch at Social on the 19th Day of December and invited few bloggers & foodies in the town. The meet was organized at 11.30, since its brunch. After socializing with fellow people, we were introduced to Black Dog Brand Ambassador Mr. Hemant Mundkur.
Mr. Hemant is a graduate in Hotel Management; he also completed a professional bartending course at Mumbai’s Cocktails & Dreams in 2009. He loves to experiment with local ingredients to create drinks that are surprising. He is known for his passion for beverages and Mixology. Prior to United Spirits (A Diageo Company) he was working as lead trainer at Tulleeho Bartending Academy, Bangalore.
If we get a chance to meet & interact with such a great mixologist, think how our afternoon will be! Yes, it was a well spent afternoon with some very good cocktails along with the delicious food. He did some magic in preparing the cocktails using Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve & Black Reserve Scotch Whiskies. He also made us to mix all the cocktails by using the necessary in-house ingredients.
When it comes to cocktails, I am very choosy and stick to some basic white rum cocktails instead of experimenting the fancy ones. However, after knowing the profile of Mr. Hemant and his passion, I decided and tried the cocktails which he prepared for that afternoon. These cocktails took me out of the world and rejuvenated my senses.
There are very few when it comes to Whisky based cocktails compare to Vodka & Rum. Black Dog proved that, best cocktails can be done through Whisky as well. The best part is, they dint use any of the artificial syrups in making these cocktails, that’s something commendable. Here are some of the cocktails like Black Dog Ginger Space, Black Dog Happyness, Black Dog Caffeine Kick, Black Dog Berry Nice and Black Dog Blacksmith which we tried on that afternoon. Out of 5 cocktails my love was much towards Caffeine Kick & Blacksmith.
The Church Street Social is one of my favorite places in Bangalore and they started the new outlet in Whitefield as well. I am a frequent visitor to Social and love the food & service anytime. As part of the holiday brunch, social crafted a special menu for this event which consists of Drunken Dates Pancake with Maple, Feiry Chooze Pops, Steak & Eggs with Paprika Butter, Pork Wurstel with Spiced Mustard Crème, Roast Chicken with Veggies, Whisky Phum Pudding and Fruit Parfait with seasonal fruit cream.
The menu was definitely not for a vegetarian like me. However, there was an option, choose the dishes on the regular menu, so I & another vegetarian friend ordered a few vegetarian dishes.
These cocktails are available on the Christmas Brunch Menu at Social Whitefield & Church Street, so rush to Social & have yourself energized.
Henceforth, I am game for Black Dog Whisky Based Cocktails!
