Route 42, PUB – BAR – KITCHEN, Koramangala, Bangalore

November 24, 2016

Route 42! A new entry to pub city of India. The Route 42 is the brain child of Mr. Ashish Kothare, a personality is well known figure in the F&B industry of Bangalore. His ventures are Juke Box, Legends of Rock, Le Rock, Moscow Mule and Road House. He is a veteran with deep knowledge about the food & beverage. Mr. Ashish is a Chapter Head, Bengaluru and Member, Managing Commitee, NRAI.

The Route 42 is located in Koramangala, vicinity that have good number of pubs & fine dining restaurants. The Route 42 will give a tough competition to others for sure with respect to service, quality and certainly pricing.

I was invited along with bunch of foodies in Bangalore to try & explore the food at Route 42. Please note there was no special treatment though we were invited. The place is huge with wide bar counter under the mezzanine seating followed by a couple of sections, where smoking is allowed under the proper ventilation. The place has a garage style interior with blue themed rustic decor. The Architect put so much of effort to give perfection. The place has a good music system, where one will not encounter loud music. In the sense, acoustic is well balanced. It’s a perfect place to spend time with loads of conversations.

When it comes to food, there are good numbers of Non Veg & Equal number of Veg dishes on the menu.  The menu doesn’t have fancy names, which is easy for the people to order without hassles.

What did we try? There was a preset menu for the afternoon with Veg & Non Veg Starters, Main course & Desserts. Also, there was an option to order from outside the set menu too! Our lunch started with Cheesy Shrooms, Cheese Balls, Cajun Spiced American Corn, Kung Pao Potatoes and Paneer Garlic Sticks. In Main Course, we tried Farm House Pizza, Veg stroganoff, Thai Red Curry and Penne Pasta Arrabiata. Our lunch ended with Banana Nutella Croquettes.

I am totally impressed with all these dishes without any second thought. All these were prepared perfectly! Especially, Paneer Garlic Sticks were soft, crispy outside & flavorful. Veg Stroganoff, I tried for the first time and totally overwhelmed. I am sure every creamy white sauce lover will certainly enjoy it. The Exotic vegetables used were fresh & amalgamated aptly with cream. A bowl of rice served was yet flavorful & aromatic. I have had the Thai Red Curry in several places & tastes similar to green curry. Precisely, no spice level. However, it was fabulous at Route 45 with spicier side. I feel Cheese Garlic Fries could have been better. Since there was no much cheese in it & couldn’t sense the flavor of Garlic, which they took the feedback politely. There are good numbers of cocktails on the menu too at Pocket friendly prices. There are discounts during happy hours every day! The Service was quick & folks are well trained with good knowledge about the food.

I will definitely recommend this place!
