Sober Sunday but an energetic lunch at Shangri-La is a made my day. It was indeed a pleasure to get an invite for this awesome place for an exclusive lunch. Being the large restaurant in the city, of course, it is yet to be fully operational, it houses multiple cuisines. Each space is specifically designed to reflect the culture, food habits, and taste of each region.

  • B Café – All day dining restaurant
  • Shang Palace- Cantonese restaurant
  • Caprese-Mediterranean
  • Yataii-Japanese restaurant
  • Ssaffron-Indian restaurant

A lot to explain about the place and experience to start with as we entered in to the lobby area, we were greeted with a bright smile and after about few minutes, Jit Bose accompanied us for a virtual tour of the place. Amidst the greenery of Bengalauru, it is set up as a huge 19 storey artistic structure, beautifully crafted and carefully maintained. On the ground floor the lobby café, B Café, and the Cake shop everything was beautifully decorated with vibrant colors and bright lightings. Then we visited the “Shang Palace” a typical Cantonese restaurant, with red themed interiors equipped with outdoor and indoor seating.  Also, the Shang Palace included Private dining area with a lounge.

Next on the list was the Yataii the classic Japanese restaurant, the furnishing besides food everything reflected the Japanese style. Finally, we choose “SSaffron” for our lunch as me and my better-half both love the Indian cuisine like none other. “SSaffron” the eye-catching view of the power house of Karnataka “Vidhana Soudha,” and the elegant unfurled flag swinging in the air seemed to portray the Indian Independence history a patriotic sensitivity and a divine feeling embraced me.

Well, Ssaffron is one of the brand new elegant and stylish Authentic Indian restaurants in the Shangri-La Hotel. The restaurant offers signature and popular dishes of Indian Cuisine. The restaurant has an amazing ambiance with beautiful décor and I loved the golden saffron themed interiors. The décor of the place matches to the restaurant name. The place also has a Royal Gesture!

Amidst all these our drink arrived at the table; I started off with Mojito that tasted decent and regular. Panner based started was exotic, since it was extremely soft, juicy, aromatic, and flavorful with good texture. Our palate welcomed panner without any hassles and it slided down easily leaving us craving. Roti and Kulcha served with Malai Kofta and Dal Makhni, it is essential to mention that Kofta was exotic with ghee floating all over on the surface, the taste was immaculate. Kulcha was spicy with sprinkled chilli flakes all over, it tasted wonderful. Dal Makhni not to mention it was delicious gravy, with authentic flavor.

Veg Biriyani Of course it is my favorite delicacy, none of my meal is complete without this. Following the same ritual next we tasted this dish, it tasted more like Awadhi Birayani the spice, flavor, and taste was perfect. When served with raitha and mirchi ka salan my palate cherished the experience.

Our dessert Tiramasu was awaiting us at Caprese, unique feature about this place was that it was finished on the table. I enjoy cooking, but when it comes to dessert, I was more delighted and tried myself, indeed it was a great experience to finish (preparation) a dessert. It tasted heavenly.

Next time you go there, you should meet him the “Vikram ,“lucky mascot” at SSaffron . He is omnipresent on the plates and napkin holders in the place. He is cute and lucky adding charm to the interiors. As mentioned earlier, amidst the green belt the building enjoys view of Bangalore, with legendary places surrounding all around. From SSaffron “Vidhana Soudha “ is evident, from Caprese “Bangalore Palace” is evident and lot of renowned dwellings.

But today everything is standstill to greet you and treat you. An ultimate relaxed delicious indulgence in eating, it was a matchless experience.
