Experience the heat of Mexico & Latin American Food in Garden City at Casa Piccosa

February 22, 2017

24th Main, JP Nagar is the new 100ft Road Indiranagar, I would say. Well, in last 2 years the vicinity and street strategically picked up with so many pubs and restaurants. The major brands started targeting this vicinity. Being a South Bangalorean, it’s always pleasure for me to see this. Since, I need not to search for pubs either in Indiranagar, MG Road or Koramangala anymore. I was recently at Casa Piccosa through an invitation along with bunch of food lovers to experience the food & drinks and this is located in the same 24th Main which I had mentioned earlier. This place was in my wish list based on my friend’s suggestion. I have visited here in the past too! However, I couldn’t spend much time because of the jam packed crowd.

How different is Casa Piccosa from other Pubs? Casa Piccosa is a Tex-Mex and Latin American Pub and the folks who work here have worked with a 30 year old leading Mexican Resto-Bar Brand situated across Mexico.  The Bar section is completely loaded with the liquor bottles which is Latino Bar concept. Who is the Chef? Well, not an Indian chef who serve Mexican or Latin American food! Chef Ernesto Villareal, 31 years old, born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico has more than a decade of experience in different styles of cooking namely: Mexican, American, and Venezuelan & Fusion. Chef Ernesto specialized in creating new recipes for major Mexican Restaurant brands. How is the décor at Casa Piccosa? The place has wood finished interiors in both sections! The Casa Piccosa has a huge bar counter and lounge seating, high tables and band play area. The aerial view from semi closed section is fabulous and would recommend dining over than another section.

What did we try? We tried wide range of Beer Cocktails, Cocktails, Starters and Main Course. Also, we got an opportunity to try the dishes from their new menu. I totally enjoyed the Vegetarian fare! Here are some of the dishes I like Cajun Spiced Mushrooms, Mexican Elote, Beetroot Salad, Texas fried chili, Caesar Salad, Quesadilla Guacamole, Veg Taco, Parrillada Veg, Cottage Cheese & Rice, Veg Enchiladas and Taco Bowl- Veg. They have got special cocktails like Classic, Mango, Cucumber and Masala Micheladas which are made out of beer. We tried Classic & Mango! Being a light beer lover, I loved their Mango Michelada which is light compare to classic with lot of spices and tanginess. It looks medium light colored drink. They serve these Micheladas in Mug and Jugs. I would advise to go with tasters first before ordering. The Pina Colada is best I would say compare to all the other places. I have also tried the Sangria, which is really good and fruits are fresh.

To be honest, it doesn’t matter about authenticity as far as the taste is really good for me. Believe me, the food over here is indeed great and certainly best with respect to quality & taste. The portion sizes are also decent for the price! This place is suitable to go with friends and family without thinking much. During our visit, I saw few families enjoying their liquor and food. Also, the crowd who visit here are more of corporates and students. Casa Piccosa encourages the new bands to perform gig and showcase their talent, which is a good initiative from the venture in promoting the unidentified and talented ones.

I would certainly recommend this place!
