After having a nice time at Ssaffron, an Indian restaurant of Shangri-La, folks invited us again for a Lunch at Shang Palace, a signature Chinese restaurant. Shang Palace is located on the 3rd floor of the Shangri-La hotel.

Shang Palace offers Cantonese, Shanghainese, Beijingese, Sichuan and Chinese vegetarian and the dishes are authentic and curated by Chinese expatriate chefs, something commendable especially for the people who love authentic Chinese Cuisine. Shang Palace has not disappointed vegetarians as well. Since, 55 to 60% of the menu is for Vegetarians.

For a more intimate dining experience in Shang Palace, guests may dine in either of the two traditional private dining rooms; I have never seen this kind of gesture anywhere in Bangalore, catering for 12 and 8 patrons, respectively.  Here, guests will be welcomed by their host for the night and led to a room with a sofa area, powder room and pantry.  Furthermore, Shang Palace has four semi-private areas that create the atmosphere for a luxurious dinner.

Coming to the Ambiance, Shang Palace boasts a contemporary and effervescent design with strong Chinese scheme elements; stone carvings and gold and silver leaf, pearl, rock crystals, marble and vases all come together to counterpart the Chinese design of private dining rooms, semi-private dining spaces and a main dining area. In one word I would say “Extravaganza”

They organized the Bloggers meet at 12 Seated Private dining section with a Lounge Table & washroom. The place has an elegant and serene environment. Since it’s a private area, so we had so much of fun filled Gala and that’s one of our memorable moments at Shang Palace.

There was a Signature Menu designed, which included both Veg & Non Veg dishes. I am not a great fan of Chinese Cuisine for some reason. However, after tasting here, I started craving now & then.

Our lunch started with Appetizer & Dim sum

Crispy lotus Stem – It’s a deep fried dish with mild sweet flavor, good crispiness and slightly spicy. One will definitely adore it because of the taste & presentation.
image

Chinese cucumber salad – A simple dish made with Chinese Cucumber, Broccoli and some Chinese leaves with mild seasoning. It’s much refreshed appetizer before something big. I tried with the Red Chili Sauce and totally loved it.
image

Vegetable crystal dim sum – I have tried the Vegetable Cristal Dim Sum in one of the popular Cantonese restaurant in the town. However, I find it best here. Since the dumplings outer layer is little thick, piping hot and vegetables are perfectly boiled. It’s a divine feeling with Red Chili Sauce.

In Non Veg, there was Lamb dim sum, Chongqing chili chicken and Crispy pork belly.

Before going to the main course, there was a spicy Veg Hot & Sour Soup has been served which tastes excellent with a good amount of spice level.

Coming to the Main Course, they served

Mapo tofu – It’s one of the popular Chinese dish from Sichuan Province. The dish was spicy, pungent with great texture. It’s adorable with Fried Rice & tastes marvelous. One must definitely try at Shang Palace without fail.
image

Stir fried Chinese greens – The dish made with Chinese cucumbers, bell peppers and some exotic Chinese Vegetables with some mildly spiced sauce. Little chunks of chilies made the dish good. The Vegetables were crispy, pungent and goes well with Rice & Noodles.

Stir fried asparagus with water chestnut – Preparing a dish with asparagus and chestnut is not easy and very few restaurants in Bangalore prepare dishes especially using Chestnuts. However, in Shang Palace they did a brilliant job in giving right flavors to this dish. The presentation of the dish is unique and looks adorable by garnishing fried cashews and garlic chunks.

Vegetable fried rice – The dish was perfectly made and we accompanied the fried rice with Mapo Tofu and tastes upright without any compliance.

Chinese vegetable stir fried noodles – A blissful vegetarian dish and much awaited. Adding right flavors to the dish makes a perfect noodles and Shang Palace got full marks.

In Non Veg Main Course, They served Hunan style steamed fish, Roasted Beijing duck, Gongbao prawns and Yangzhou fried rice.

Every meal will have happy endings and in our case it was Almond milk jelly with cinnamon ice cream – The Ice-cream is made of Clove, Cinnamon and a few other spices. The milk jelly was served with Papaya! The dessert made our meal completed.

We had so many Blogger Meets. However, the bloggers meet at Shang Palace was remarkable, memorable and epic. The team organized in a planned manner.

I would like to Thank Everyone from Shangri-La & Shang Palace for hosting such a wonderful Bloggers Meet and yes, Shang Palace won a Times Food & Nightlife Award 2016 under Best Chinese Restaurant (Fine Dining) category. It’s truly commendable in a Short Span of Time.
