Air Asia is one of the most popular airlines for well-known service in India. They made people with marginal income fly because of their affordable journey fare. People eagerly wait for their offers to launch. AirAsia has started their actions in Indian domestic sector since June 2014 and the base location is Bangalore. They are operating across 10 locations every day in India.
I recently got an opportunity to taste the new Air Asia’s menu at Taj SATS in Kempegowda International Airport at Bangalore. It was indeed great experience for me to try out the delicious food. I have been hearing that how people are struggling when travelling from one place to other for a decent food. Few Airline companies charging high prices serves food that tastes below average and I had personal experience with one of the popular airlines, where their options also very less and whatever the food served was totally unworthy.
Being a South Indian and Vegetarian, I always prefer to have some South Indian or at least Asian Food during my travel. Many folks will have the same expectation when it comes to food.
Well, the recently introduced menu of Air Asia comprised of 18 different varieties of dishes for their Travelers. I guess Air Asia is the only Airlines who serve so many options to the Patrons. Additionally, it is been the only Airlines who serve Fish in domestic flights.
We tried the same food which is been served at Domestic flights and we tried the dishes in Casseroles.
In Vegetarian,
1. Ajwain Poori, Aloo Tamatari & Veg Cutlet – This was the first combo served to everyone. Poori was soft and warm. However Aloo Tamatari was piping hot and tastes really good because of the species being used and it was neither bland nor spicy.
2. Mysore Dosa, Kanjivaram Idlies & Andhra Upma – This combo was my personal favorite; dosa was perfectly made with mild spiciness. Kanjivaram Idlies served in Thick Sambar; idly wasn’t so soft but Sambar was divine with sweet, tangy and spiciness. A perfect example for authentic dish and I strongly prefer this combo if you love south Indian breakfast.
3. Aloo Gobi Ki Tehari with Mirchi Ka Salan – The rice in the combo tastes similar to Veg Biryani in some of the restaurants in Bangalore and Salan was totally upright with essential flavors.
4. Paneer Lababdar, Jeera Pulao and Dal – I am not a great fan of Jeera Rice but the Paneer Lababdar and Dal was really impressed and must try.
5. Vegetables in Red Thai Curry – Another blissful dish in the Air Asia’s menu. I have had tried this dish at many places with jasmine rice, here I find it unique and there is a Wow factor when it comes to taste. I don’t call it authentic but prepared nicely.
6. Paneer Tikka & Sheek Kebab Wrap – There was a fellow foodie who had from Kolkata and Kati rolls are originated from Kolkata. He said that, the wrap or rolls being served were similar to one of the legendary joints. I savored this wrap.
7. Conchiglie (pasta) in creamy pesto with zucchini & bell peppers – Pasta wasn’t hot but pesto flavor gave the perfect taste and everyone adored this dish and we ended up ordering 2 to 3 servings.
There were other Non-Veg Dishes though. However, I haven’t tried hence, I cannot review those dishes, but my non-veg peers were impressed with Basa Fish Combo.
Air Asia also follows standard procedures in food preparation and these dishes are prepared at Taj SATS Kitchen. Taj SATS is one of the most popular and highly reputed Kitchens for most of the Airline Companies. They are doing indeed great job in maintaining the quality and taste.
Taj SATS specializes in a catholic range of cuisine and serves a multi-cultural custom. Their award-winning chefs are fabled for Indian, Continental, and Oriental and Fusion food. Taj SATS adapt meals to suit the alimentary penchants of the customers. The raw material used is of the best superiority with regular purveyor audits conducted by their in-house quality team.
Important notes to travelers, if you wanted to eat these dishes, do order while buying tickets, so that there will not be any hiccups going further.
Most of these combos are priced approx. 200 INR and available in all domestic Air Asia Flights.
I would like to Thank Air Asia Team for inviting me to try out these mouthwatering dishes.
Great post and pictures as usual. Mouth watering too.
Thank you Varnam 🙂
