All about homely Thai Food – Lan Thai, New BEL Road, Bangalore

December 12, 2019

Lan Thai, an indeed great food joint serving some authentic Thai Cuisine located in new BEL road. The place was started to serve some home away food to students of nearby colleges. Later on it became popular, because of quality and consistency. However, it was limited to the vicinity and others like me never knew about the existence. So, I decided to spread the word across though this write-up.

Asian food is my second love after South Indian, knowing that, one of my good friends introduced me to this place and visiting here was long pending. But thanks to Instagram for making me to crave and travel for miles to have good food.

Well, I finally made my plan to have Thai food here at Lan Thai. First impression is always a good impression – with the first sight, I fell in love with the place though it looks like a Room 10*8 with benches and table. The Vibe is totally because of the warm welcoming staff.

The menu is simple and no-nonsense! Trust me, one can easily understand the menu if you have basic idea about Asian Food. I wasn’t so keen on Soup, so ordered Tom Yum Salad (Papaya) – It was crunchy, spicy (hot), sweet and sour. It tastes exactly like how it is supposed to be.. Full Marks to the dish. Next one I ordered was Thai Basil Mushroom – Oh boy, it was so good. They have high quality mushrooms sautéed with some magic spices and basil. None of the flavors were overpowering, it was just perfect. They will serve with cup of white rice.

How can someone miss ordering Thai Curries at Thai restaurant? Even I did not miss it. I have ordered both Thai Red and Green Curries. Both were just phenomenal and I will confidently call it authentic gravies unless you ask them to customize. I somehow liked Thai Red curry more than Green Curry because South Indian in me.

Pad thai, or phad thai, is a stir-fried rice noodle dish commonly served as a street food and at most restaurants in Thailand as part of the country’s cuisine. Here at Lan Thai is certainly must try and the dish is blend of sweet, salty, umami and (tamarind) sour. The noodles were very well done and served with Peanut powder, lime and beansprouts.
