Saffron is one of the most popular “North Indian” restaurants in “Hotel Park Plaza” and well known for the extravagance ambiance and great food.

The restaurants in Bangalore had come up with a concept of Food Festival, where they will be inviting celebrated Chefs to the restaurant and cooks the Signature dishes under the guidance of celebrated chef to make their patrons happy. I have visited many food festivals in recent times; I find the food at Saffron is unique. wpid-dsc03898.jpg

Well, it is “A Tale of Two Cities Delectable Feast” from Amritsar & Lahore (Amritsar & Lahore Food Festival).

Amritsar & Lahore were two sister cities of undivided Punjab. Post 1947partition they became a regional culinary hub, showcasing the centuries old delicacies prepared by master chefs using exotic ingredients. The culinary team at Saffron invited me to be part of this timeless journey of two famous frontier cities. wpid-dsc03897.jpg

The Folks at Saffron decorated the place nicely to get a feel of Punjab without diverting the Ambiance. I liked place, since the festive décor minimal. The Actual Restaurant Decor has been brought up with a soupçon of extravagance. An Amber illumination suffused the surface. A dining section of the posturing separated by a fortification of glass and festooned with terrace garden. The restaurant offers comfortable and posh seating, which is apt for every diner.  A huge pillar with ultra-modern scheme gives a feel of perfect Fine dining Experience. The restaurant has a visible kitchen sandwiched by heavy glass followed by Bar Counter with a showcase of Imported Wines Collection.

A basket of Papad with three different types of chutneys placed on our table and it was much required to kick start our dinner. We were served some of the Exotic & Authentic starters, main course, cocktails and dessert.

In soup, they served Amritsari Dal Sorba – It was upright and tastes pronounced.

In Veg Starters, we tried ‘Che Che Da Paneer’, Amritsari Bharwan Aloo’ and ‘Lahori Hara Matar ye Mawa Bhara Kabab’. Totally adored Amritsari Bharwan Aloo and Lahori Hara Matar ye Mawa Bhara Kabab, both were just melted in my mouth. I could feel the authentic value in it. Being a food lover, I visited one of the recent Amritsari food festivals at a popular restaurant in Bangalore, which was good. These starters weren’t much spicy, but flavorful with great texture. wpid-dsc03852.jpg

In Non-Veg there were lamb Sheekh Kebab, lamb Shami Kabab and Chicken Tikka Kabab. My fellow non-veggies enjoyed more than me.

In Main Course, there was Dal Makhni, Sarsaan Da Saag, Paneer Bhurji and Amritsari Wadiyan Chollian Naal along with Bread Basket. I Liked Dal Makhni & Sarsaan Da Saag more than everything, I feel both were light, although these dishes made with high cholesterol ingredients. My taste buds are still tickling for Sarsaan Da Saag. My fellow foodies felt spicy, however, I enjoyed completely. Dal Makhni was best among all and it’s definitely a show topper throughout this festival.

Along with Rotis & Exotic Gravies, there was Veg Tharkari Biryani & Pulao.

  1. Veg Tharkari Biryani – I am a great fan of Biryani and my dinner will not finish without rice being a South Indian. The Biryani which served was not Hyderabadi or Awadhi Style, but trust me the flavors, aroma, taste just made my day. The long grain basmati rice was perfectly boiled & cooked with exotic Indian spices & vegetables. I am sure; there will be so much of dedication & passion behind this preparation. I should also talk about Raitha served with Biryani; it’s a best Raitha I tasted so far. We ended up asking them to get 3 bowls of raitha.

  1. Veg Pulao – In one word, it’s “Awesome”. The flavor of rice & mild spices played a vital role to taste my palate. It’s heavenly with Raitha. wpid-dsc03875.jpg

A beautiful Kulfi Falooda being served for dessert, it was upright without any complaint.
