I happened to visit Sunthar Idly’s along with my wife based on couple of positive reviews in Online Portals. I and my wife both are great fans of Pongal (Tamilnadu Style) and that made us to visit this place. Honestly after seen the reviews we were craving for a Pongal. We came all the way from our place to here in the evening and unfortunately we did not get Pongal, as they don’t prepare/serve in the evening. We did not have other option so decided to order Ghee Masala Dosa & Idayappam. Somehow we ordered with mixed feelings but that worked. I was totally satisfied with Ghee Masala dosa and it was yumm! I had this kind of Dosa in Woody’s Commercial Street around three to four years before and now I enjoyed the same taste of it here. Dosa was so soft and Palya was bit spicy but untroubled to non-spicy lovers.
They have very limited and classic Tamilnadu style dishes which include Idly Vada, Kesari Bath, Sambar Vada, Ghee Roast, Ghee Masala Dosa, Pongal, Parota and Puri in the morning & some of the dishes will not be available for evening.
Coming to the other dish we ordered was Idayappam, presentation of the dish was little weird but palates splendid and my wife enjoyed every morsel of it. We were not aware that Idayappam looks like Semiya or Shavige. We had a satisfied meal from both the dishes.
Ambiance of the restaurant is attired and well maintained. This place looks like a typical darshini in Bangalore. This is again a self-service restaurant with small tables and chairs.
Service was excellent and quick. Owner was very profound in explaining and suggesting the dishes, we ordered Idayappam based on his suggestion.
Prices are again inexpensive and perfect pocket friendly restaurant.
We will be definitely visit again for breakfast shortly. I strongly recommend this place for people who likes authentic Tamil style breakfast.
