Reminiscing the flavours of Asia at “You Mee” Bangalore

December 10, 2018

Love Asian food? Then you must make a visit to newly opened Asian restaurant “You Mee” in Forum Shantiniketan, Bangalore!

You Mee is one of the best restaurants I visited in recent times. This Manga themed Cafe / Restaurant offers some of dishes across Asia which includes Sushi’s, Dimsums, Fun Rolls, Soups, Salad’s, Robata, Ramen Bowls and what not. This new Japanese restaurant has a limited menu, but it has everything we always wanted.

A decade ego, the Manga comics were pretty popular and I used to read quite often. So, this place ambiance made me to recall & bought those nostalgic memories back. The walls have hand-painted illustrations from popular icons of these comics.

You Mee focused more on Japanese cuisine among all and there is good options for Vegetarians as well. Honestly, I am not at all a fan of Japanese food. However, this place somehow sounded interesting based on few critics recommendations, which made to visit.

My lunch started with Geisha Iced Tea. Geisha is a refined combination of Japanese green tea and delicately flavoured with cherry blossom. It’s soothing & refreshing with subtle taste. Much needed after hour & half journey. As I wanted to have wholesome experience, so I have taken the F&B Managers assistance.

I have opted for California Edmame & You Mee Garden Dragon under Sushi’s sections. First & foremost thing, Sushi is an art and not everyone can make best ones. There should be good knowledge about the flavours and yes, creative too. Chefs at You Mee totally nailed it. I have liked “You Mee Garden Dragon” more than “California Edmame” due to the presence of Asparagus Tempura, which gave a crunchy feel with amalgamation of flavours. It’s a bliss to dip in Soy Dip.

Dimsums are must try when you are at Asian restaurant. So, I have ordered “New York Cheese and Chilli Oil Dumpling” as well as “Beans, Bokchoy, Chestnut Dumpling”. Cheese Dumpling was a silent show stopper throughout my experience and believe me, it just melts in the mouth with mild flavours. Whereas, BBC is other way around. Both are must try! Crispy Vegetables Fun Rolls is something which doesn’t need introduction. Presented beautifully, nice texture and good flavours though.

Som Tam Salad lighted my taste buds on fire. The dish has such a range of flavors and a balance of spicy, sweet, sour and salty. It was incredibly healthy and delicious! Three Mushroom Skewers with Garlic Pepper Butter is must try if you love mushrooms. Being a Mushroom lover, I just loved the Shiitake and Algae on Skewers. It was very well grilled with pepper butter. Noodles served with Skewers was the right accompaniment.

Wok tossed Silken Tofu with Hakka Noodles was very well made with fresh ingredients and perfect amount of spice level.

Don’t forget to end your meal with Banana Fritter Sundae. Deep fried bananas topped with Vanilla Ice Cream and garnished with chocolate sauce & biscuit. I loved the way it was presented and tastes great though since it wasn’t too sweet.

Overall, it was a great lunch and I would certainly recommend this place to everyone.
