Forum Shantiniketan has become abode of good standalone eateries. I was at Achaar last week for lunch with a couple of friends. Its an Indian restaurant of dishes from Southern and Northern part with Modern Twist. The place is cozy and looks elegant with indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor is ideal for dinners in Summer. I was told that, this is part of SALT, which is fortunately one of my favorite restaurants in Town.
Though I am not a cocktail person, I have tasted few and brilliant they were. I did sense that cocktails weren’t sweet and not much of artificial colors addition which is feel good factor.
I got to start my lunch with Barley the Bandit Salad, on a healthier note the salad was pretty decent with respect to taste and chopped apple made a difference. Paneer Tikka Nacho le Salad – I have mixed opinion about this dish. I felt Nachos and Paneer will not go well. However, others may appreciate it.
Paneer Pataka was outstanding with great flavors and best part is Paneer itself (Softest after 10 mins). The Paneer was marinated in Green Herbs and Wrapped in Banana Leaf. I strongly recommend this dish to all the vegetarians.
Nadru Aur Singhade Palak was looking so delicious. However, the taste was pretty average. As Lotus Roots and Water chestnuts did not amalgamate properly with Palak Gravy. The flavors were lacking. Dal Makhani was pretty good and loved it.
Dum Tarkari Biryani – I never expected such a nice biryani at places like Achaar. Trust me, this was best among all. I certainly cannot expect more than great flavors, aroma and taste in Vegetable Biryani. Another commendable dish in Achaar for Vegetarians.
Service was good and folks are knowledgeable. This place surely has potential and hopefully, there will be some changes in the upcoming menu.
